Initial studies will examine <a target="_blank" href="https://prevention.cancer.gov/major-programs/multi-cancer-detection-mcd-research">Multi-Cancer Detection assays</a> (MCDs), which identify cells in blood or other bodily fluids that could indicate early-stage cancer. Phelps, now a vocal patient advocate, has been treated at Fred Hutch’s <a target="_blank" href="https://www.fredhutch.org/en/diseases/colon-cancer/treatment.html">Colorectal Cancer Specialty Clinic</a>.
