Recognized for his expertise in highly complex biomedical research facility design, Beets was elected to the American Institute of Architects’ prestigious College of Fellows in recognition of his contribution to the profession, as well as to the nation’spublic health and safety.  His recent projects include the Texas Children’s Hospital Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute, the Department of Homeland Security National Bio-Agro Defense Facility, The University of Texas Galveston National Laboratory, Texas A&M University Interdisciplinary Life Sciences Building, and The University of Houston-Victoria Regional Economic Development Center.

Tom Reisenbichler, AIA, Texas Regional Director for Perkins+Will, commented on Beets’ leadership skills, “While Ray has achieved international acclaim in the past decade for his specialized expertise, he has been a significant force in the practice of architecture for 40 years. His strength in guiding large teams and his ability to nurture young interns into firm leaders has furthered the success of our Houston office’s delivery of outstanding healthcare, educational, corporate, commercial, and civic projects as well as science + technology facilities.”
